FAIRFIELD, NJ: ISH, Inc. announced today the completion of a strategic Supply Chain and Finance initiative at Community Medical Center Healthcare System in Pennsylvania. Desiring to obtain both enhanced functionality from their Lawson software applications and McKesson Pathways Materials Management, and improved operational processes in these key areas, Community turned to ISH as their trusted advisor in May, 2008.
ISH developed a comprehensive plan to integrate their technology, improve the Supply Chain and Financial workflow, and provide much needed immediate and reliable data and information, while delivering immediate financial savings to fund this initiative. By December, 2008, ISH had successfully met all deliverables: on time, on budget and with a smooth transition for the CMC staff. Contract costs were reduced by 6.8%, and inventory was reduced by 11.73%, with significant reductions within Central Supply and Surgery.
Price reductions were spread over a number of departments, including OR, Cath Lab, EP Lab, Anesthesia, Nursing units and Capital expenditures.
Completing a current state assessment of Community’s business processes and current use of technology, ISH developed an improvement program that include financial, technology, data, workflow and external operations. They aided Community in automating their manual processes in Materials Management, Purchasing, Contracts Management and Accounts Payable. This included creating timely information flow to the general ledger with the ability to utilize information not previously accessible.
Working closely with Community staff, ISH streamlined the Asset Management and Project Accounting processes, which included improved methods of asset data collection, more efficient tracking of capital projects, and improvements to project accounting.
According to Thomas Kelly, CFO, “During the engagement, ISH significantly lowered our on-hand inventory supply expense, and negotiated contracts to save us money immediately, and in the future. They also ensured that purchases were paid at negotiated purchase order prices. ISH proved to be the right choice.”
